It has been a VERY long day. I suspect it is going to be a long night too. We were at the Stollery this morning at 6am. We were given a 630am time. We were taken back pretty quickly to have Brennan's vitals done and get gowned up. They also put this numbing cream on for when they do the iv later.
Well it was 3 hours later by the time I got called back again. Thankfully Brennan was pretty good. He ended up falling asleep in my arms. I met with the anesthesiologist and Dr Kiddoo. Dr Kiddo casually mentioned that we were lucky the first case got canceled and we were getting started early. Apparently someone gave me the wrong info. I was told we were the first case!
After our chat the nurse came and took Brennan. They offered me the chance to go into the OR with him while they put him asleep....normally for baby's under 1 they don't do it. I decided to just let the nurse take him. I cried and he cried a little.
The operation was done at about noon. Dr Kiddo came out to speak with us. Said that everything went well, that there was plenty of tissue to work with. 1/2 Later we finally got called back to recovery to see him. He was sitting with a nurse and was reasonably happy.
One of the first things I noticed was 2 gauze pads on each hand and the iv in his foot. It looks like they had to stick him 5 times for a vein :(.
Brennan was starving and ate 12 oz. We were there till about 230 and got to go home. The traffic around U of A was just stupid so it took a while to get home. Brennan slept the whole way.
Once we got home he started to show signs that he was in pain. It hurts him to sit and crawl and really just move. That also frustrates him. So we gave him some of his pain meds and he is now asleep.
His penis imo looks horrible. But right now we are looking at a blood soaked dressing and a stent/catheter coming out of it. I have to remind myself that it will get better.
We go back on Monday to have the stent taken out. He should be feeling better in a couple days probably.
Anyhow we are all exhausted....and even though I feel terrible that he is going through this pain I think we have done the right thing.

Praying for a speedy recovery.
