The television in the waiting room

So back to my appointment yesterday at the fertility clinic.  It was a long wait.  I totally get why offices like my RE and OB/GYN have televisions in the waiting rooms.  It helps to keep the patients from complaining too much, keeps them occupied.

Normally I am a people watcher.  I love to observe the other people in the waiting room.  the older couple on the other side of the room, several ladies clutching their vials of washed sperm (giggle), the newbies filling out their paperwork

As I was passing the time people watching a familiar song started to play on the television.  I look up to see Selah singing Unredeemed on 100 Huntly Street.  I though oh cool.  The next segment was an interview with Todd and Angie Smith about her book I Will Carry You.

My first though, well quite honestly was this was probably not the best audience for such a topic.  A room full of hopeful infertiles don't want to think that there is even a remote possibility that once they achieve a pregnancy that it could end in such a way.

But I enjoyed the segment....straining my ears to hear the dialogue.  Then to my dismay one of those ladies clutching her vial of sperm went and asked the receptionist for the remote and changed the channel to Extreme Home Makeover....blah.

Happy to say I found the segment online...yeah...Just finished watching it.

100 Huntley Street/Smith

I am so thankful that there are people who are willing to share their stories and break the taboos regarding pregnancy and infant loss.  To know we are not alone in our grief is comforting.  To know that society as a whole is being educated about baby loss is comforting.
